The spot

Community-maintained

Community contribution: submitted by Daniel

Cullendulla Creek meets the sea beside Snapper Island in Batemans Bay, offering a sheltered family-friendly snorkeling spot where the calm, shallow waters of the creek mouth transition into the clear ocean shallows around the island. Paddle or wade out from Surfside Beach, past rocky reef ledges and seaweed beds teeming with small fish and crustaceans. The adjacent Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve protects this estuarine shoreline, making it a peaceful, scenic paddle-and-snorkel destination for beginners and families exploring the Batemans Marine Park.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Boat traffic in channel

The paddle route from Surfside Beach around the point to Snapper Island crosses a channel used by local vessels; keep a lookout.

  • Low risk: Outgoing tide current

The creek outflow can create moderate currents at the entrance when the tide is ebbing, especially after heavy rain.
