Tucked behind the rocky granite outcrops of Wilsons Promontory, Corner Inlet Marine National Park protects 1,150 hectares of the warmest, most easterly embayment in Victoria. The park is split into two sections bisected by a channel, with Granite and Bennison islands marking its boundaries. Beneath the calm surface lie deep channels, extensive seagrass meadows (the only place in Victoria with large beds of Broad-leaved Seagrass Posidonia australis), tidal sand and mudflats, mangroves and saltmarsh. Snorkellers explore this nursery of marine life — crabs, seastars, sea snails, tiny iridescent squid, pipefish, stingarees, flathead, whiting and flounder — all thriving in the seagrass community. Above the water, the park is a Ramsar-listed wetland hosting 20% of Victoria's wader bird population.

Low risk: Tidal Mudflats Exposed at Low Tide
Extensive seagrass beds and mudflats become exposed during low tide, requiring awareness of tide times to avoid being stranded
