Corals Cove (also known as Coral Cove) sits on the Southern Great Barrier Reef coastline, roughly 20 minutes south-east of Bundaberg between Innes Park and Elliott Heads. This rocky headland and foreshore area offers direct shore-entry snorkeling over fringing reef platforms, where you can drift above coral-encrusted rock bars teeming with reef fish, rays, and occasional turtles. The protected inshore gutters and deeper edges near Barolin Rocks provide a mini-reef experience without needing a boat. With picnic tables, barbecues, toilets, and a carpark right behind the beach, it's an easy day-trip for families and snorkelers wanting a taste of the Great Barrier Reef from the shore.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Swell and Wave Action

Southeasterly swells can produce dumping waves over the reef flats, making shore entry hazardous on days with significant groundswell.

  • Low risk: Outgoing Tide Current

The ebb tide can create a noticeable sweep along the rocky reef edge, particularly near Barolin Rocks, which may carry snorkellers away from the entry point.

  • Low risk: Sharp Coral and Rock Edges

The fringing reef consists of sharp coral rubble and barnacle-encrusted rocks that can cause cuts and grazes; reef shoes are strongly recommended.

  • Low risk: Marine Stingers

Box jellyfish and other marine stingers may be present in warmer months, particularly October to May.
