Black Springs is a secluded beachside camping area within Coffin Bay National Park on the wild tip of the Eyre Peninsula, accessible only by high-clearance 4WD. Sheltered sandy shallows, crystal-clear waters, and a calm protected bay create excellent snorkelling conditions close to shore. Moderate risk: 4WD access only
The track to Black Springs requires a high-clearance 4WD vehicle with sand flags. Deep ruts, soft sand, and narrow passes make it unsuitable for 2WD vehicles.
Moderate risk: Tidal inundation on access track
Occasionally high tides inundate sections of the access track with seawater. Check tide times and water depths before crossing.
Low risk: No drinking water available
There is no potable water in the park. Visitors must bring all drinking water with them.
Low risk: Isolated location
Black Springs is remote with limited mobile reception. Emergency services are a significant distance away. Self-sufficiency is essential.
