Cod Hole is a renowned offshore dive and snorkel site located off Wooli on the NSW North Coast, within the Solitary Islands Marine Park. The site features two rocky bommies submerged in around 18m of water, connected by a natural arch — one bommie rising to 10m, the other to 6m. This underwater terrain is draped in soft corals and sponges, attracting a rich diversity of temperate marine life. Winter is especially rewarding, with regular sightings of Grey Nurse Sharks, Weedy Sea Dragons, wobbegongs, turtles, nudibranchs, and rays. Access is by boat only, with trips typically organised through Wooli Dive Centre.

Moderate risk: Deep water entry
The shallowest bommie tops out at 6m, with most of the site at 10-18m depth. Snorkelers need strong free-diving ability to appreciate the bommies fully.
Low risk: Strong ocean currents
Offshore bommies can experience significant tidal currents that sweep across the site, requiring good fitness and awareness.
Low risk: Boat traffic
The site is accessed by boat and lies in a marine park frequented by dive and fishing vessels. Watch for boat traffic entering/exiting the area.
Low risk: Cold water temperatures
Winter water temperatures can drop significantly, requiring a thick wetsuit (5-7mm) for comfort and safety during extended snorkels.
