Clam Gardens in Watson's Bay on Lizard Island is one of the Great Barrier Reef's most iconic snorkelling sites, just a few metres from the sandy shore. Named for the enormous giant clams — some measuring up to 2 metres in length — that dot the shallow coral gardens, this site offers an intimate encounter with living reef giants. The crystal-clear, calm waters of the bay reveal a stunning array of hard and soft corals, teeming with colourful reef fish. The easy shore access from the beach makes it a world-class snorkel destination for anyone visiting the remote northern reaches of the Great Barrier Reef.
