China Wall is a lesser-known but rewarding dive and snorkel site within the Great Barrier Reef marine park accessible from Townsville, North Queensland. This site features sloping reef walls and mild bommies that attract a colourful array of reef fish, soft corals, and the occasional turtle or ray. Its more sheltered position relative to some outer reefs means it offers manageable conditions for intermediate snorkelers, though it is typically reached by charter boat. The site's name evokes the wall-like reef structure that drops gently into deeper water, making for a scenic drift along the coral edge.

Low risk: Tidal current
Moderate tidal currents can sweep along the reef wall, especially during spring tides. Snorkelers should stay close to the group and the boat.
Low risk: Wind chop (Apr–Jul)
From April to July, strong southeasterly trade winds can create choppy surface conditions and reduced visibility.
