Tucked between Indian Head and Waddy Point on K'gari's eastern coastline, Champagne Pools are a series of natural volcanic rock pools where frothing ocean surf cascades over the walls, creating a fizzy "champagne" effect. These sheltered tidal pools offer safe, calm snorkelling waters with sandy bottoms and impressive views of the Coral Sea. An elevated boardwalk leads down to the pools, making them one of the most accessible and unique snorkel spots on the island.

Moderate risk: Incoming Tide Swell
At high tide, large waves can surge over the rock walls, potentially sweeping swimmers against the rocks.
Low risk: Slippery Rocks
The volcanic rock surrounds become extremely slippery when wet, posing a slip hazard when entering or exiting the pools.
Low risk: Bluebottle Jellyfish
Bluebottles (Physalia physalis) can drift into the pools during onshore winds, especially in summer months (Nov-Apr).
Low risk: Sun Exposure
Limited shade around the pools increases risk of sunburn, particularly during midday hours.
