Sheltered by a natural rock break that keeps waves at bay, Cape Paterson Bay Beach is a snorkeler's haven on Victoria's Bass Coast. This protected bay features crystal-clear shallow waters, vibrant kelp gardens, and abundant sea life that draws families and enthusiasts alike. The beach drops off into deeper water at the rock ledge, where large rays glide past and colourful fish flit among the seaweed. Despite its popularity, the bay can get crowded on fine days, which sometimes stirs up sediment and reduces visibility. Best entered on a southerly wind when surface conditions are glassy flat.
