Candlagan Creek is a serene, shallow estuary extending from the northern end of Broulee Beach roughly five kilometres inland along the NSW South Coast. Sheltered from ocean swell by a broad sandbar, its calm, clear waters wind past weedy rocky outcrops and sandy flats, creating a safe natural aquarium perfect for beginners. Small fish, marine molluscs, and small stingrays are common sights as you drift with the gentle current over seagrass beds and rock formations — a peaceful escape into Broulee's aquatic wilderness.

Low risk: Shifting sandbar conditions
The broad sandbar at the creek mouth can shift with weather and tides, affecting entry/exit points.
Low risk: Shallow depth in upper reaches
Further inland the creek becomes very shallow, making navigation by swimmers limited at low tide.
