The Camilla Wreck is a shallow, accessible shipwreck site just 80 metres off Challenger Beach in Cockburn Sound, South Fremantle. The former twin-masted schooner (built 1834) was scuttled and burnt in 1903, leaving a scattered iron framework and deck supports lying in less than 3 metres of water. This easy shore-entry snorkel offers a unique glimpse into maritime history, with the dark shape of the wreck visible from the beach on calm days. The sandy, flat seabed is surrounded by seagrass meadows and is best explored in easterly winds when the water is clearest.

Moderate risk: Jet skis and watercraft
The area is just south of a popular boat ramp, so jet skis and other vessels frequent the vicinity. Always snorkel with a dive flag.
Low risk: Variable visibility
Visibility ranges from 1–10 metres; can be greatly reduced when ships berth at the nearby Alcoa jetty or after windy conditions.
Low risk: Seasonal weed growth
At certain times of year (summer), extensive weed growth can cover the wreck site, reducing visibility and making navigation more difficult.
