Cable Bay is a sheltered 350 m low-energy sand beach within Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park on the rugged western coast of Yorke Peninsula. Protected by extensive offshore reefs, its usually calm waters and rocky intertidal pools make it an excellent spot for snorkelling right off the shore. The campground sits right behind the beach, so you can roll out of your tent and into the water. The reef just offshore buzzes with marine life, while the shallow sandy patches near the timber stair entry are perfect for beginners to get comfortable.

Low risk: Reef exposure at low tide
The offshore reef can be very shallow or exposed at low tide, making entry and exit tricky in places.
Low risk: Swell and wind chop
On windy days the sheltered bay can still develop chop, reducing visibility and making snorkelling less pleasant.
Low risk: Rocky shore entry
Timber stairs lead down to the beach, but the intertidal zone has scattered rocks that can be slippery.
