Nestled along the shores of the Parramatta River, Cabarita Beach at Cabarita Park offers a delightful riverside swimming and snorkeling escape in Sydney's inner west. The beach features a long, wide strip of sand bordered by rocky outcrops at either end, creating calm, protected waters that are ideal for a relaxed paddle and snorkel. Backed by sprawling parklands with picnic tables, barbecues, and a playground, this family-friendly spot combines easy river access with lush green surrounds. The gentle currents and shallow gradient make it particularly welcoming for beginners wanting to explore the river's estuarine environment.

Moderate risk: Water quality after heavy rain
Swimming is not recommended for up to three days after heavy rainfall due to stormwater runoff and elevated bacteria levels in the Parramatta River.
Low risk: River currents
While generally calm, tidal movements in the Parramatta River can create moderate currents, especially near the rocky ends of the beach during outgoing tides.
Low risk: Rocks at beach margins
Rocky outcrops border the beach at both ends; swimmers entering or exiting near these areas should take care to avoid sharp edges and slippery surfaces.
Low risk: Boat traffic
The Parramatta River sees regular ferry and recreational boat traffic; stay well clear of vessel channels and be alert for wake.
