Bunker Bay Beach is a stunning north-facing crescent of white sand on the eastern flank of Cape Naturaliste, roughly 13 km north of Dunsborough. The beach splits into two distinct zones: the wide, gently shelving eastern end is ideal for family swimming and is patrolled in summer, while the western end narrows against granite outcrops and delivers the region's finest shore-entry snorkelling. Here, clear sheltered water and grassy reef edges surround small granite islands that snorkellers can loop anti-clockwise for the best marine encounters. On calm mornings visibility exceeds 10 metres, making it a gem of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park.

Moderate risk: Outgoing tide current
At the western (snorkelling) end, currents that keep visibility high can drift swimmers outward toward the open ocean if attention lapses.
Low risk: No lifeguards (western end)
The western end of Bunker Bay is not patrolled by surf lifesavers, unlike the eastern swimming end.
Low risk: Afternoon sea breeze
The sea breeze across Geographe Bay strengthens through the afternoon, ruffling the surface and reducing snorkelling visibility significantly.
