Bunbury Back Beach is a broad, white-sand beach on Geographe Bay in Western Australia's South West, framed by a mix of calm inshore waters and rolling surf swells. The beach stretches along a scenic coastline backed by dunes and a coastal bike path, with nearshore rocky patches that attract reef fish, making it a versatile spot for both swimming and snorkelling. Its shoreline offers easy shore entry, while the panoramic sunsets over the Indian Ocean are legendary.

Moderate risk: Surf Breaks and Waves
Back Beach can experience moderate to strong surf conditions, especially during southerly winds. Swells can create dumping waves near shore that are hazardous for inexperienced swimmers.
Moderate risk: Rip Currents
Occasional rip currents form along the beach during larger swell periods. Swimmers should stay between the flags where lifeguards are present.
Low risk: Rocks and Reef Patches
Submerged rocky outcrops and reef patches are present in the snorkelling zone. These can cause cuts and abrasions, especially in low visibility or choppy conditions.
Low risk: Strong Southerly Winds
Afternoon sea breezes can pick up significantly, creating choppy surface conditions that reduce visibility and make swimming back to shore more strenuous.
