Tucked within Booti Booti National Park on the NSW mid-north coast, the rock shelf pools at Booti Booti Beach offer a sheltered snorkeling haven carved into ancient sandstone. These natural tidal pools form along the rocky platform between the beach and the headland, catching crystal-clear ocean water as the tide rises. Sheltered from the main surf break, they provide calm, shallow conditions perfect for spotting small reef fish, crabs, and sea stars in the crevices. The surrounding national park — sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and Wallis Lake — adds a stunning backdrop of coastal rainforest and dramatic headlands, making this a serene wild snorkel spot away from the crowds.

Moderate risk: Incoming Tide
As the tide rises, waves can wash over the rock shelf, increasing water levels quickly and potentially trapping snorkelers or making exit difficult.
Low risk: Slippery Rocks
The rock shelf can be extremely slippery when wet, especially with algae growth. Careful footing is needed when entering and exiting the pools.
Low risk: Sharp Rock Edges
Sandstone and barnacle-encrusted rock edges can cause cuts and abrasions. Water shoes or reef booties are strongly recommended.
