Boat Rock is a lesser-known snorkeling spot in the Gold Coast & Brisbane region of Queensland, situated along the western shores of Moreton Bay near the hinterland ranges. The site features rocky reef terrain that attracts a variety of marine life. Access is typically by boat from nearby launch points. Waters here are generally sheltered but can be affected by tidal flows through the bay. The area offers a quiet alternative to busier reef sites, with underwater rock formations providing habitat for small fish and invertebrates.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Strong tidal currents

Moreton Bay experiences significant tidal movement that can create strong currents around rocky outcrops like Boat Rock.

  • Low risk: Boat traffic

Being a rock feature rather than a beach, boat traffic in surrounding channels can pose a hazard to snorkelers.
