Hidden among granite platforms on the eastern side of Shell Beach in Innes National Park, the Blue Pool is a spectacular natural rock pool renowned for its impossibly clear, opaline water. Reached by scrambling over rocks from the beach stairs, this protected tidal pool offers deep plunge zones where you can dive down to explore small fish, crabs, starfish, and coral. At low tide on a calm day the water is mesmerisingly still and translucent — a true hidden gem on the Yorke Peninsula. Best visited November to March.

On windy days the ocean can get wild, making the pool dangerous or inaccessible.

This area is not patrolled; swimmers should take a buddy and exercise caution.
Low risk: Slippery rocks
