Blue Lagoon is a cherished dive and snorkel site off Green Island, a lush coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef just 27 km northeast of Cairns. Set in stunningly clear, shallow waters (max depth ~8-10 m), the site features a mosaic of sandy patches, coral bommies, and spur-and-groove formations that attract a dazzling array of marine life. Its sheltered lagoon-like conditions and excellent visibility make it a favourite for beginning snorkelers and experienced divers alike, with turtles, reef sharks, and rays commonly spotted cruising the calm waters.
