Moderate risk: Rogue waves on rock platform
Though the main rockpool is sheltered, rogue waves can wash over the rock platform at any time, especially in higher swell conditions.
Moderate risk: Difficult pool exit
The blue rockpool has steep sides with only one hidden ledge (southern side, obscured by kelp) for exiting, making it challenging to climb out.
Low risk: Slippery wet rocks
The rock platform and ledges become very slippery when wet, requiring careful footing during the rock-hop to reach the pools.
Low risk: Tide-dependent access
The rockpools are best visited 2 hours either side of low tide; at higher tides the rock platform may be partially submerged or unsafe.
Low risk: Deep water in pool
The rockpool is deceptively deep — well above head height in most spots — despite its crystal-clear appearance.
