Bateau Bay is a sheltered, family-friendly beach in Wyrrabalong National Park on the NSW Central Coast. Its calm, shallow waters and rocky headlands create an ideal environment for snorkelers to explore rock pools and patches of reef close to shore. Backed by a shady picnic area and the Coast walking track, this spot offers easy access to clean sand and clear water, with Crackneck Point lookout nearby providing stunning coastal views. The bay's northern side is particularly popular for snorkelling, where small caves and boulders host a variety of marine life.

Low risk: Southerly swell
The bay is partially sheltered but can experience southerly swells that create strong shore breaks and rip currents.
Low risk: Rocky headlands
Sharp rocks and boulders along the northern and southern headlands can cause cuts and scrapes, especially in low visibility.
Low risk: Outgoing tide current
An outgoing tide can produce a mild current near the rocky points that may pull snorkelers away from the sheltered beach area.
