The spot

Community-maintained

Community contribution: submitted by Daniel

Tucked at the eastern end of Balmoral Beach on Sydney's lower North Shore, Balmoral Baths is a historic netted harbour enclosure offering supremely calm, pool-like waters with all the character of a natural ocean setting. The baths sit within a sheltered bay framed by the heritage Bathers' Pavilion, pine-dotted parkland, and gentle shallows that make it a favourite for families, beginners, and anyone wanting easy access to Middle Harbour's clear, protected waters without currents or surf.

  • Low risk: Shark net enclosures

The netted swimming enclosures provide protection but snorkellers should avoid touching or climbing the nets.

  • Low risk: Boat traffic

The bay has moderate recreational boat and watercraft activity; stay within the netted area.
