Back Beach is a sheltered sandy beach nestled in the suburb of Mahomets Flats, just south of Geraldton's city centre on Western Australia's Coral Coast. This protected shoreline offers calm, shallow waters close to shore, making it a convenient spot for a relaxed dip and surface snorkel. The beach is backed by low dunes and provides easy access to the warm, clear Indian Ocean waters that characterise this region. While not a premier reef system, it is a quiet, local favourite for families and those wanting a quick, uncrowded snorkel without leaving town.

Back Beach is exposed to consistent medium-to-large swells, producing strong wave action and dangerous shore breaks that can be hazardous for inexperienced swimmers and snorkelers.
Moderate risk: Rip Currents
Like most exposed surf beaches, rip currents can form, particularly around the main surf break. Swim between the red and yellow flags on patrolled days.
Low risk: Unsupervised Conditions
The Surf Life Saving Club patrols only during summer weekends (Oct-Apr); outside these times the beach has no lifeguards.
