Nestled within Flinders Bay on the wild Southern Ocean coast, Augusta's sheltered town beaches centre on Granny's Pool — a 100-metre-long tidal rockpool with impossibly pale turquoise shallows that glow against the deep blue of the bay. Protected from ocean swell by a natural granite barrier, these glass-clear waters offer a safe, calm snorkelling haven for all ages. The pool is literally steps from the car park, making it one of the most accessible yet enchanting snorkel experiences in the Southwest Capes region. The surrounding coastline combines rugged granite outcrops, sandy pockets, and gentle shallows that stretch out into the deeper waters of Flinders Bay.

Low risk: Southern Ocean swell on outer reefs
While Granny's Pool itself is sheltered by a rocky barrier, the outer Flinders Bay and surrounding headlands can experience significant Southern Ocean swell and wind chop on rough days.
Low risk: Slippery rocks at pool edge
The granite rocks forming the natural barrier around Granny's Pool can become very slippery, especially when wet.
