Arno Bay is a charming coastal town on South Australia's eastern Eyre Peninsula, fronting the sheltered waters of Spencer Gulf. The historic Arno Bay Jetty — built in 1901 — is the centrepiece for snorkelling, offering easy shore access to clear, calm waters with sandy seabeds and seagrass meadows. Renowned for legendary snapper fishing, the jetty area also teems with King George whiting, squid and crabs. Dolphins and seals regularly visit the bay, while pelicans work the creek mouth. The adjacent mangrove boardwalk and tidal creek add to the serene coastal setting, making Arno Bay a peaceful, family-friendly snorkel destination.

Low risk: Tidal currents at creek mouth
The tidal creek that enters the bay can create shifting currents near the mangrove boardwalk area, especially on outgoing tides.
Low risk: Fishing lines and hooks
The jetty is a popular fishing spot; discarded lines, hooks and sinkers can pose a snag or injury risk for swimmers and snorkellers.
Low risk: Boat traffic near jetty
Boat launching facilities nearby mean occasional boat traffic in the bay — keep alert near the jetty channel.
