Angourie Ocean Rock Pool is a natural saltwater rock pool nestled beside the famous freshwater Blue Pool on the North Coast of NSW. Carved from a former quarry site disturbed by an underground spring, this tidal ocean pool sits on the rocky shelf at Angourie Point, filling with fresh seawater at high tide. It offers a protected, calm swimming and snorkeling environment with views over the Pacific and the Angourie headland — a unique blend of quarry history, freshwater springs, and ocean tidal action.

Moderate risk: Ocean swell overtopping
During large southerly swells, waves can wash over the rock shelf into the pool, creating sudden surges.
Low risk: Tidal changes
The rock pool is tidal — water levels drop significantly at low tide, reducing depth and clarity for snorkeling. Best visited within 2 hours of high tide.
Low risk: Slippery rock platform
The surrounding rock platform can be extremely slippery, especially when wet. Care needed when entering and exiting the pool.
