Angel Island is a pristine island oasis in the Dampier Archipelago, Pilbara, featuring powder-white sand beaches that give way to vibrant coral gardens in crystal-clear turquoise waters. The striking contrast of red Pilbara rocks rising behind blinding white sand creates a uniquely photogenic setting. Shallow coral passages and calm lagoons make this an idyllic spot to explore the underwater world, with turtles, rays, and dolphins frequently sighted. Accessible only by boat, this untouched gem offers a true escape into nature.

Moderate risk: Deep water access
Snorkeling is from the boat and in many areas the water is too deep to stand. Surface conditions can be choppy.
Moderate risk: Strong tidal currents
Tidal flows between the islands can create strong currents, especially around headlands and channel passages.
Moderate risk: Deep water drop-offs
Many snorkeling areas drop quickly into deep water beyond the fringing reefs — not suitable for weak swimmers without flotation.
Moderate risk: Remote location
Accessible only by boat with no facilities on the island. Self-sufficiency required.
Low risk: Boat traffic in channels
Vessels accessing the Dampier Archipelago use the same channels as snorkelers. Be vigilant for boat traffic near entry/exit points.
Low risk: Marine stingers (box jellyfish)
Box jellyfish may be present in warmer months. Protective stinger suits recommended November through May.
Low risk: Seasonal stingers (marine stingers)
Marine stingers including box jellyfish may be present in warmer months. Stinger suits recommended.
Low risk: Strong sun exposure
Intense Pilbara sun with minimal shade on the beach. High UV year-round.
Low risk: Tidal currents in coral passages
Tidal flow through coral passages between beaches can create currents, especially on larger tidal movements.
