Angel Fish refers to the crystal-clear, reef-fringed waters of Flying Fish Cove on Christmas Island's northeast coast. Here, vibrant coral gardens start just metres from the sandy shore, teeming with endemic Cocos angelfish, parrotfish, butterflyfish, and swirling schools of batfish. The cove is well protected from prevailing swells, offering calm, gin-clear conditions ideal for snorkelers of all levels. With over 88 coral species and 600 colourful fish species in the surrounding waters, this is one of the Indian Ocean's most accessible and richly biodiverse snorkeling destinations.

Occasional boat traffic near the jetty and boat ramp area. Stay aware of vessels launching and retrieving.
Low risk: Swell surge
The west-facing cove can experience a moderate surge when ocean swells roll in, especially during the Australian winter months (June–August).
Low risk: Afternoon sea breeze chop
Strong afternoon sea breezes can create choppy surface conditions and make swimming back to shore tiring.
