Advance Bommie is a stunning pair of isolated coral bommies rising from the deep blue waters at the southern end of the Agincourt Reef system, part of the Great Barrier Reef off Port Douglas. The larger main bommie is encircled by colourful coral-covered walls teeming with marine life, while a smaller tower lies just across a deep sandy gutter. Its exposed, current-swept position makes it a magnet for pelagic visitors — reef sharks, eagle rays, and turtles are regularly sighted where the open ocean meets the pinnacle. The vibrant coral walls are also home to a rich array of macro critters including nudibranchs and crustaceans, making every lap around the bommie a discovery.

Moderate risk: Deep open water
The site consists of two isolated bommies surrounded by deep water (25m+). Snorkelers must be confident in open water away from shore.
Moderate risk: Stinging jellyfish
On the outer reef, stinging jellyfish (including box jellyfish and Irukandji) may be present during the warmer months from November to May.
Low risk: Ocean currents
The exposed oceanic position of Advance Bommie can create moderate to strong currents, especially around the main bommie and over the gutter between the two pinnacles.
Low risk: Boat traffic
Boat traffic from multiple reef tour operators accessing the Agincourt Reef dive sites.
