1770 Reef (Great Barrier Reef Eco Tours) runs all-inclusive day tours from the Town of 1770 to Lady Musgrave Island and its pristine lagoon in the Southern Great Barrier Reef. After a 90-minute air-conditioned journey across Bustard Bay, you spend up to 5 hours snorkelling the crystal-clear lagoon waters among vibrant coral gardens, green sea turtles, manta rays, and colourful reef fish. A glass-bottom boat tour, guided island walk, and full catering complement the in-water experience, making it one of the closest and most accessible day trips to the outer reef from the Queensland mainland.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Seasickness (open ocean crossing)

The 90-minute journey crosses open ocean; even on calm days guests may experience seasickness. The operator recommends taking motion sickness medication before departure.

  • Low risk: Physical exertion risks

Snorkelling and diving are physically demanding. Those with heart disease, asthma, epilepsy, or other conditions should consult the crew before participating.

  • Low risk: Tide-dependent departure times

Departure and return times change daily with tidal conditions. The tidal range controls when the vessel can enter and exit the 1770 Marina safely.

  • Low risk: Venomous marine life (cone shells)

Cone shells and other venomous marine creatures inhabit the reef. The operator advises guests to avoid touching anything on the reef floor.
