Located about 14 miles south of Carnarvon along the remote Western Australian coast, 14 Mile Beach (also referred to as 14 Mile Lagoon) is a popular shore-entry snorkelling spot known locally as 'the aquarium'. The protected lagoon-like waters teem with colourful reef fish, sea turtles, and rays, thanks to the sparse coral bommies and limestone reef structure just offshore. The beach is also a beloved camping area with 2WD-accessible beachfront sites, making it an easy getaway for families and beginners looking to slip on a mask and fins in turquoise, sheltered water.
